MST16-Experimental apparatus for plastic ultimate load testing of rigid frame

The plastic ultimate load testing experimental device for MST16 rigid frame is a device used in structural mechanics and steel structure design experiments to test the nonlinear behavior, failure mechanism formation, and ultimate bearing capacity of planar rigid frame structures under extreme loads.

The failure mode of rigid frame structures is more complex, involving competition and transformation of beam lateral displacement mechanism, beam mechanism, and combination mechanism. The device aims to demonstrate howa rigidframetransitionsfromanelasticstateto a plastic state, achieves internal force redistribution through the sequential formation ofplastic hinges, and ultimately collapses due to becoming a geometrically variable system.

Experimental feature

1.Determination of plastic ultimate load of rigid frame:
①Measure the complete P-Δ curve of a rigid frame under vertical, horizontal, or combined loads.
Determine the ultimate load value when the structure loses its stable bearing capacity, and verify the calculation results of the upper limit theorem (dynamic method) and lower limit theorem (static method)

2.Observing the formation process of destructive mechanisms:
①Visually display the sequence and position of plastic hinges.
②Identify the final failure mode: interlayer lateral displacement failure (column hinge mechanism, dangerous), beam end failure (beam hinge mechanism, ideal), or mixed failure

3.Verify the application of the principle of virtual work in limit analysis: By measuring the ultimate load and corresponding displacement mode of the mechanism, verify the equilibrium equation that the external work is equal to the dissipated energy of the internal plastic hinge

4.Study the influence of loading path: Compare the effects of "adding vertical load first and then horizontal load" and "proportional loading" on the ultimate bearing capacity and failure mode
